Tick, tock, tick, tock… the time has finally come for the first teaser trailer of HBO’s highly-anticipated “Watchmen” series.
Based on the 1986 DC comic book classic by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, “Watchmen” is set in an alternate version of America where masked vigilantes are not only a part of everyday life but are often treated as criminals.
Damon Lindelof (“The Leftovers”) is tasked with bringing the much-loved superhero series to the small-screen, but unlike Zack Snyder’s 2009 film adaptataion, the “Lost” creator has said he won’t be following the source material to the letter.
“This story will be set in the world its creators painstakingly built,” Lindelof said in a 5-page letter he posted on Instagram last year. “But in the tradition of the work that inspired it, this new story must be original. … Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them.”
The series, which will debut this fall, stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk.
