Kevin Hart wants his children to be aware of how privileged they are.
Unfortunately, they learned that lesson a little too well. Hart, 39, told “The Graham Norton Show” about taking his children with him on a trip to his hometown of Philadelphia.
Hart wanted to show his kids — Heaven, 14, and Hendrix, 11 — where he was born. “I give them this long speech, it was like a moment,” he reflected. “I had to sit on the steps, I waited for the bus here. I walked two-and-a-half miles from here to where I had to go to meet my mom. This is not a situation that you are comfortable in.”
The speech did not have the desired effect. “My kids are like, ‘We want to live here!'” Hart exclaimed, eliciting laughter from Norton and fellow guests Will Smith, Naomi Scott and Octavia Spencer. “I’m like. ‘Wait! No, no! This place is a piece of s**! I’m trying to show you what we have is nice. You have to work for it.'”
“‘We don’t want to go home! Let us go upstairs.'” Hart’s kids argued. “I literally had to cut the lesson and cut the trip to Philadelphia short,” the comedian shared.
Meanwhile, 2019 is shaping up to be a huge year for Hart, with film credits including “The Upside”, his Netflix standup special “Kevin Hart: Irresponsible”, “The Secret Life of Pets 2”, “Kevin Hart’s Guide to Black History” and the as-yet-untitled third “Jumanji” movie.
