It appears that 20th Century Fox is hoping to recreate the phenomenal critical and box office success of “The Martian”; by re-teaming on new projects with director Ridley Scott, novelist Andy Weir and screenwriter Drew Goddard.

Deadline is reporting that the studio inked a deal with Scott, Weir and “The Martian”; producer Simon Kinberg, following a pitch by Weir. The movie based on Weir’s first published novel racked up the accolades from audiences and critics alike, earning a massive $630 million worldwide and seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

This time around, however, Scott won’t be behind the camera. Instead, he is reportedly producing the film alongside Kinberg and a still-to-be-named director. Instead, Scott will have his hands full with another project from “The Martian”; team.

Last week, it was announced that Scott would direct a film based on a script by “The Martian”; screenwriter Drew Goddard. The film will be an adaptation of S. Craig Zahler’s novel, “Wraiths Of The Broken Land”;. A Western set near the Mexican border at the turn of the century, “Wraiths Of The Broken Land”;, will also be produced by Kinberg and several other producers behind “The Martian”;.

It’ll be a while before either of these films hit theatres. Scott is currently filming another entry to the “Alien”; franchise, “Alien: Covenant”; which is due in 2017.
