All “Detective Pikachu” fans can thank Ryan Reynolds’ daughter for convincing him to take the part.
The film’s director Robert Letterman revealed that Inez, 2, is to be given all the credit for her dad signing onto the film.
Speaking to Collider, Letterman said, “We were all in on Ryan. So, what happened was, I did these tests. I took an old clip of Ryan from a different movie and we animated Pikachu to it. And the second I saw that test it was done. It was perfect. We hadn’t even reached out to him. There would be no other version in my mind.”
Adding that when he said “yes” it was “a massive sigh of relief.”
Reynolds later confessed to Letterman that when he showed the clips to his daughter, “she was the one who talked him into it.”
“So thank you to Ryan’s daughter!” the director said.
Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively have two children Inez and James, 4. They recently announced they are expecting their third.
Lively posted the pictures of the two of them at the New York premiere of the film with the caption, “PokeMOM…. Out now.”
She also carried a rainbow-coloured Judith Leiber clutch that was shaped like a Poke Ball.
