Elle Fanning is breaking ground and bringing a fresh approach as a juror for the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
The “Teen Spirit” actress opened up about her role at this year’s event. “I feel proud to represent a young voice,” she said at a panel Q&A on Tuesday. Fanning’s stock has gone up ever since she received a Critics’ Choice award nomination for “20th Century Women” and Critics’ Choice and Screen Actors’ Guild award nominations for “Trumbo”.
President Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is a juror, along with actress Maimouna N’Diaye, Oscar-nominated filmmakers Yorgos Lanthimos, and Paweł Pawlikowski. Other jurors include Helmers Kelly Reichardt, Alice Rohrwacher, Robin Campillo and Enki Bilal.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival takes place from Tuesday, May 14 to Saturday, May 25.
