Hannah Brown Confronts Kelly Ripa After ‘Bachelorette’ Shade: ‘The Show Isn’t About ‘Women Fighting’

By Katie Colley.

Bachelorette Hannah Brown is setting the record straight with Kelly Ripa.

On Thursday’s episode of “Live With Kelly and Ryan”, the season 15 lead of “The Bachelorette” made an appearance just two days after Kelly Ripa slammed the dating series, calling it “creepy” and “gross.”

But before letting Brown discuss her journey to finding love, the talk show host immediately addressed her concerns on “The Bachelor” franchise.

“I’m not sure if they told you backstage, I’m not behind this at all,” Ripa tells Brown.

“I am very against women fighting over a guy. I don’t believe in it. I think it’s, you know, weird and sets us back,” she continues.

“But now, you are in the power position. So take me through that. How does that work?” Ripa asks Brown, who was previously competing for Colton Underwood on Season 23 of “The Bachelor”.

“Like you, I didn’t really follow the show, wasn’t a big fan,” Hannah admitted.

“Being a part of the show, it’s not women fighting against each other,” she assured Ripa. “Some of my best friends came from the show and were really supportive. When you have a group of 30 people together, there’s going to be people who don’t like each other. That’s simple facts.”

She continued: “Ultimately, it was one of the most empowering things I ever have done because I had to push myself and grow as an individual, and I did. I think that’s why I decided that I wanted to be the Bachelorette.”

The controversy all began during Tuesday’s episode when Ripa reacted to co-host Ryan Seacrest announcing that Brown would be appearing on their show later in the week.

“You know how I feel, ladies? We are too special to be arguing over a guy,” Ripa said.

Following Ripa’s critique, Bachelor Nation host Chris Harrison and creator Mike Fleiss had something to say.

Harrison tweeted, “Look out #BachelorNation, Kelly Ripa⁩ is coming after you and your ‘disgusting’ Monday night habit.” Fleiss warned, “Easy, Kelly Ripa… ‘The Bachelor’ franchise pays your salary!”

Ellen Pompeo fired back: “We don’t attack successful women on our network and men certainly cannot take credit for their success.”

Season 15 of “The Bachelorette” airs Mondays.
