Lady Antebellum has just released the group’s first new music since 2017, and the country music trio’s new single is a heartbreaker.
“What If I Never Get Over You”, the just-released track features vocalists Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott trading verses as they each share their respective perspectives on a romance gone wrong, coming together in the chorus as Dave Haywood joins in.
“What if I’m tryin’, but then I close my eyes/And then I’m right back, lost in that last goodbye,” sings the trio in the chorus, asking in the bridge, “What if this lasts forever and ever and ever?”

The new track was written by Nashville singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd, who took to Twitter to thank the group for recording it.
As Rolling Stone points out, “What If I Never Get Over You” is the first release under the band’s new deal with Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group after exiting Capitol Nashville.
As Scott explained in an interview last year, making the jump to Big Machine from its longtime label was not a move the group took lightly.
“We had the most incredible working relationship with Capitol Nashville. We accomplished so much, we did great business, but more than that, we were family, and we loved being a part of that family. It was one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever made,” Scott told The Boot.

“It was just a turning of the waves. It was a huge jump of faith,” she continued. “We feel refreshed and ready to create together from new perspectives and new ideas. It’s not because of Capitol. They were incredible. It’s just that we needed that turning over of the page.”
