Twenty years after leaving her daughter behind to pursue her career, Laura Linney’s Mary Ann is returning to San Francisco for more “Tales of the City”.
Based on the books by Armistead Maupin, the Netflix miniseries brings the next chapter in the story, with Ellen Page playing Mary Ann’s daughter Shawna.
Back in the city, Mary Anne gets pulled back into the world of Olympia Dukakis’ Anna Madrigal and discovers the new generation of young, queer residents of 28 Barbary Lane.
Linney and Dukakis both starred in the original 1993 TV adaptation of “Tales of the City”, as well as its 1998 and 2001 followups.
The new series also stars Paul Gross as Shawna’s ex-husband, Daniela Vega, Jen Richards, Barbara Garrick, Zosia Mamet and more.
“Tales of the City” premieres on Netflix June 7.
