The Lonely Island guys are officially in the surprise visual album drop business.
Following in the footsteps of Beyoncé, comedy music trio Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone released, what they had previously teased as a “visual poem” on social media, the “Bash Brothers Experience” on Netflix on Thursday.
Titled “The Lonely Island Presents: The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience”, the collection of thematically linked music videos tells the life story of Oakland A’s baseball stars Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire.
Samberg and Schaffer play the titular Bash Brothers, who were known for bumping their forearms together in what was dubbed the “Monster Bash”.
The two friends later had a falling out after Canseco wrote the book Juice: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big, which detailed the open secret of steroid use in major league baseball.
Canseco responded to “Bash Brothers” on Twitter with praise, and even offered to do a follow-up.
The 30-minute visual poem features an impressive collection of guest stars, including Jenny Slate, Maya Rudolph, Sterling K. Brown, Stephanie Beatriz and the band HAIM.
Even before the Netflix release of the “Bash Brothers” on Thursday, celebs were getting Twitter hyped for it.
Fans can also stream the songs from “The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience”.
