Kanye West Opens Up About His Late Mother In Candid Interview With David Letterman

Kanye West is opening up like never before in a rare sit-down with David Letterman.

In a new teaser clip of Yeezy’s interview with the late-night icon for the second season of his Netflix talk show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction”, the rapper says he believes his late mother is still here and “guiding” his family, including wife Kim Kardashian and their children, North, Saint, Chicago and newborn baby boy Psalm.

“This would have been the funnest time of her life to have those kids running around that house and being able to like go and buy them toys,” he shared with Letterman.

“I remember my mother bought me a bear that was multicoloured and I was very into Takashi Murakami at that time on that third album, Graduation. So she bought it,” he recalled. “She said it kind of feels like Takashi Murakami and then I was sort of like, ‘I don’t want that. That ain’t no Takashi Murakami bear,’ and stuff like that.”

Kanye added, “And then she passed a few weeks after and I did everything I could to find that bear and place that bear on top of all the Takashi Murakami stuff I had in the house.”

However, he declared his belief that she’s watching over his life, smiling down at him. “You know, she’s here with us and she’s guiding us,” he added.

Season two of “My Next Guest” starts streaming on Netflix on Friday, May 31.
