What do you get the man who has everything? How about 50,000 people serenading you for your birthday?
Sir Ian McKellen turned 80 on Saturday but unfortunately, his “X-Men” costar was unable to attend the party. That didn’t leave Hugh Jackman empty handed though, “The Wolverine” star led his audience at “The Man, The Music, The Show” in a rendition of “Happy Birthday”.
“I’m sorry I can’t make your party, Ian, but I think I might annoy about 50,000 people,” Jackman said in the video he posted on Instagram as they all started to sing.
He ended the clip by saying, “Love you man, Happy Birthday.”
Cake artist Kay Gajra posted some pictures of the party and his “2 foot tall [cake] made from vanilla cake with jam and buttercream” that was formed to look like the iconic actor.
Actor and producer Liam Coutts also gave McKellen a unique gift, a “Magic 80” card with McKellen in his famous roles as “Magic Mike” characters.

Patrick Stewart also took time to send his good friend birthday wishes. Along with a picture from when McKellen officiated Stewart’s wedding to Sunny Ozell, he wrote, “Happy 80th birthday wishes to @IanMcKellen! Sunny and I are grateful for all the love over the years, whether as a dear friend, minister at our wedding, or colleague on screen and stage.”
