“Game Of Thrones” fans have made it clear they are not happy with the final season of the HBO show, many even signing a petition to get season eight re-filmed.
One of the reasons listed on the petition has to do with the “woefully incompetent writers.”
The petition that has over 1.5 million signatures reads, “David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on. This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
To add fuel to the fire, a GitHub member, Mr. Quart, used data from OpenSubtitles.org to determine that the words spoken per minute on “Game Of Thrones” has declined as the seasons went on reports Indie Wire.
A peak happened in the middle of season one with the number of words per minute hitting an all-time low in season eight episode three “The Long Night” where much of the show is based around the Battle of Winterfell.
This handy chart helps to sum up the data.
Although all the signatures in the world won’t sway the “GoT” cast and crew in remaking the finale season. Many of the stars have been outspoken about the petition calling it “disrespectful”.
“All of these petitions and things like that — I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season,” Sophie Turner who played Sansa Stark said. “Like 50-something night shoots. So many people worked so, so hard on it, and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful.”
Even “Riverdale” actress Lili Reinhart commented on the petition letting people know “this is not how television works.”
