With unconfirmed reports Daniel Craig turned down nearly $100 million to continue playing James Bond in two more movies, the rumour mill has been cranking into overdrive with reports of actors who are in talks to take over one of the most iconic roles in movie history (it should be noted that those reports were later deemed “entirely incorrect”;).

While recent rumours had “Avengers”; star Tom Hiddleston as the frontrunner should Craig not return, a new name has entered the picture: Jamie Bell, with Deadline reporting the Bell – who played the title role in “Billy Elliot”; as a child and has since gone on to appear in such films as “Snowpiercer”; and “The Fantastic 4″ – has already discussed the possibility of playing 007 with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.

Meanwhile, the website BirthDeathMovies.com is reporting a “source close to Hiddleston”; claims the actor is in “advanced talks”; to take on the role, stating that “Hiddleston very much wants the job (a fact of which he’s made no secret)”; but adding that “no official offer has been made – yet.”;

Adding even more fuel to the fire is Gillian Anderson, with the “X-Files”; star entering the fray by tweeting a fan-made movie poster of herself as “Jane Bond,”; the first female 007.

Whether these rumours of other actors up for the role indicate that Craig is indeed finished with Bond or that producers are speaking with other thespians in order to gain leverage in negotiations to spur Craig to commit to more movies is anybody’s guess.
