The upcoming “Alien” project has officially found its director.
Legendary director, Ridley Scott, the man who helped bring the franchise to life, confirmed he will return while chatting with Variety about the film’s upcoming 40th anniversary.
According to the report, Scott plans to commemorate the achievement by directing a new prequel film.
But Scott says the movie is still in “the script phase.”
“They sent me a script and I read it. I loved it,” the English director explained. “I was in Hollywood within 32 hours.”
Scott’s first “Alien” film was released in 1979 and helped launch the career of Sigourney Weaver. After stepping away from the franchise for the original’s sequels, Scott returned for “Prometheus” (2012) and “Alien: Covenant” (2017).
Since “Alien”, Scott has released box office hits like “The Martian” and “Gladiator”.
