The upcoming “Ghostbusters”; reboot raised the ire of fans pretty much since it was first announced, with diehard aficionados of the original criticizing the decision to recast the beloved blockbuster with a quartet of female stars: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, McCarthy spoke out about the backlash.
“All those comments – “You’re ruining my childhood!”I mean, really,”; she said. “Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood?”;
Yet people are not feeling kindly toward the movie, in large part perhaps due to the trailer, which has received the largest number of negative comments of any video ever posted on YouTube.
In McCarthy’s mind, though, those online haters are sad, lonely people. “I have a visual of those people not having a Ben [Falcone, her husband], not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the Internet,”; she added. “I just hope they find a friend.”;
“Ghostbusters”; hits theatres on July 15; until then, check out this sneak peek at Chris Hemsworth’s character in the upcoming comedy:
