Sia is hoping to adopt 16-year-old Dasani from the HBO docuseries “Foster”.
The Grammy-nominated singer, 43, took to Twitter on Tuesday after watching the doc, pledging to adopt the teen.
“Hey Dasani from ‘Foster’ on HBO,” she tweeted. “I’d like to adopt you we’re just trying to find you and get my house check done, etc.”
She added, “But I want you to know you will have a home with me.”
The heartbreaking doc explores the “often-misunderstood” world of foster care, focusing on Los Angeles, telling the stories of foster parents, social workers, advocates and the foster children themselves.
The series detailed Dasani’s tragic story, picking up 12 years after he watched the man he considered his father shoot his mother dead. He has been “bouncing around” group homes ever since.
“Being in a group home is like lockdown… it’s like having a big old chain attached to your leg. You go, and if it don’t work out, you go somewhere completely different. It’s like, you’re just bouncing from place to place to place to place to place,” Dasani says in a clip from the series.
Adding, “You don’t know none of these people, it’s a whole new experience, it’s a whole new environment… everything is different.”
HBO or Dasani have yet to comment.
