Dan Aykroyd Praises ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot, Calls It ‘Brilliant’

Original Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd is praising the all-female “Ghostbusters”; reboot.

Aykroyd – who also co-wrote the original film with Harold Ramis – took to his Facebook page to sound-off on the rebooted franchise. The actor saw an early test screening of the film, and has nothing but praise for the rebooted movie, which hits theatres on July 15.

The actor, who starred as Ray Stantz in the first two films, writes that the Paul Feig-directed movie, “has more laughs and more scares than the first two films.”;

Aykroyd singled out the performances by the female and male stars of the film as “brilliant”; and “genuine.”;

With Bill Murray in a cameo role in the film, that’s two of the O.G. “Ghostbusters”; crew giving their seal of approval on the reboot.

Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Kristen Wiig take over the franchise as the new ghost busting crew, aided by their sexy-but-dumb secretary played by Chris Hemsworth.

The “Ghostbusters”; reboot has been the target of online vitriol with predominately male fans up-in-arms over the female-led cast, with many writing that a rebooted “Ghostbusters”; ruins their childhood.

Rebbot star McCarthy recently responded to the online haters who are “spewing hate into this fake world of the Internet.”; “All those comments – “You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really”;, she said. “Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood?”; The actress added that she hopes the haters at the centre of the backlash “find a friend.”;
