Phoebe Waller-Bridge Defends ‘Fleabag’ Against ‘Filthy’ Label: ‘I Just Say Stuff About My A***hole’

Phoebe Waller-Bridge things critics are overreacting about “Fleabag”.

The show’s creator and lead actress is biting back at detractors who label the show as “filthy” and “sexually exposing.”

“The British press were like, ‘[‘Fleabag’] is the filthiest, most overly exposed, sexually exposing show ever’,” she recently told British GQ. “They made out like I was naked the whole way through. I was like, ‘There is not a moment of nudity in the series.'”

“I just say stuff about my a***hole straight down the barrel,” she argued. “I think that makes people feel so naked, but the language was more naked than the actual performance.’”

“Fleabag” wrapped up its UK run with its second and final season in April. Unfortunately for those critics, “Fleabag” is still alive and well. The Fleabag stage show is scheduled to return to London for a limited run and “Fleabag 2” recently began airing in North America.

Waller-Bridge’s other show “Killing Eve” recently wrapped up its second season and has been renewed for a third.
