One of the most acclaimed novels of the last decade is finally coming to the big screen.
On Wednesday, the first trailer dropped for “The Goldfinch”, based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Donna Tartt.
Ansel Elgort stars in the film as Theo Decker, whose mother was killed in a bombing at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art when he was 13.
Theo goes to live with a wealthy family, with a matriarch played by Nicole Kidman stepping in to raise him. As an adult, Theo finds himself caught between his job at an antiques store and the rich society life of his adoptive family.
The film is directed by John Crowley and also stars Sarah Paulson, Luke Wilson, Jeffrey Wright and Finn Wolfhard.
“The Goldfinch” is out in theatres Sept. 13.
