“Glee”; alum Mark Salling has been dropped from the mini-series “Gods And Secrets”; in the wake of his child porn indictment.
A grand jury indicted the 33-year-old actor on charges related to child pornography last week. The actor was charged with receiving and possessing child porn after a laptop, hard drive and flash drive were seized from the actor’s home, which investigators say contained thousands of images and video involving children.
When the charges were first laid against Salling following his arrest on December 29, Shankar told the media that he would wait to hear the outcome of the investigation before making a decision about Salling’s involvement. Now, the director is holding true to his word to axe Salling from the project.

While an indictment doesn’t prove guilt, Shankar announced his decision to cut Salling from the independent series, re-filming his scenes with a new actor. According to a statement, the cost of re-shoots will be personally paid for by the director. Salling had filmed scenes as the main villain in the story about superheroes and the consequences of their existence.
“I hope that Mark finds inner peace,”; Shankar wrote in a statement. “Hopefully some good will come of all of this and I pray that when the dust has settled, the hyper-connectivity of the information age that has brought to light the transgressions of several public figures, will also force us to look within our society to identify and eliminate the root cause of the rape culture we exist in.”;

Shankar announced that a percentage of the film’s profits would go to a charity for abused children.
Salling is expected to turn himself in to the court on June 3 for arraignment. If convicted, the charge of receiving child pornography carries a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison. The charge of possessing child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.
