The Jonas Brothers returned to the stage of the iHeartRadio Wango Tango Festival at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, on Saturday, marking the band’s first appearance at the fest in 11 years.
Before their performance, however, a very special guest appeared to introduce them: John Stamos, who has been hilariously trolling the brothers (and vice-versa) on social media over the past few months.
“You know, people often say to me, ‘John, you stay so young, you like all the hip music, you’re so damn cool — how can I bring that kind of vibe into my own life?’ And I tell ’em it’s simple,” declared Stamos, stripping off his long-sleeved leather shirt to reveal a Jonas Brothers t-shirt beneath, his arms festooned with JoBros tattoos.
“Get yourself a Jonas Brothers t-shirt,” the “Fuller House” star told the crowd as he grabbed a t-shirt cannon and began firing JoBros shirts into the audience.
“And because I look so damn good in it, the guys made me an honourary member of the band,” he continued. “Last night at a very private ceremony I was knighted into the band as… Uncle Jonas.”
Stamos then led the crowd in a full-on chant of “Jo-nas! Jo-nas!” before concluding his band intro. “Wango Tango, bask in the love of the JoBros, here they are, my honourary nephews: Nick, Joe and Kevin — the Jonas Brothers!”
During their set, the JoBros performed an array of their hits, including such fan favourites as “Lovebug”, “Burnin’ Up,” “Lovebug,” “Sucker” and more.
Stamos’ Wango Tango appearance is the latest chapter in a hilariously meta back-and-forth between him and the JoBros, which included Stamos’ social media posts in which he apparently gets a Nick Jonas tattoo and goes to sleep next to a Nick Jonas pillow.
Here’s how it all unfolded:
Fans of the Jonas Brothers have even more to look forward to with the upcoming premiere of new Amazon Prime Video documentary “Jonas Brothers: Chasing Happiness”, which debuts on June 4.
