In their matching shirts, sneakers and dead animals, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara protested for animal rights.

The protest was part of National Animal Rights Day on Sunday in West Hollywood.

The couple marched with other animal rights activists who all carried dead animals (no word on where the dead animals came from).

One of the banners the two walked under said, “This is how we, the human race, treat animals. Do you want to be a part of this?” reported Just Jared.

Each year in 30 cities, participants take part in “a Celebration of the animals in our lives, and the steps that are being made every year towards ending animals’ suffering and shifting humanity to a cruelty-free, plant-based (vegan) lifestyle,” reads The NARD website.
