Williams had just lost her match against Sofia Kenin when she asked the officials to “put me in another room… smaller, but now,” which happened to be where Thiem was stationed.

“I don’t really get it. Seriously,” Thiem said in a short clip. “I mean, what the hell? It’s a joke, really.”

But to Thiem, it wasn’t fair, “It is just the principle,” he said.

Adding, “Even if a junior is in there, every player has to wait. It is a matter of course. It also shows a bad personality, in my opinion. I am 100 per cent sure (Roger) Federer or (Rafael) Nadal would never do something like that.”

ET Canada has reached out to Williams’ rep for comment.
