“Punky Brewster” may be coming back to TV all grown up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal is working on a reboot of the classic sitcom, with original star Soleil Moon Frye signed on to reprise her role.

The original “Punky Brewster”, which aired from 1984 to 1988, followed the story of a precocious young girl being raised by a foster parent after being abandoned by her mother at a Chicago shopping mall.

After the original series ended, Frye went on to star in a number of series, animated shows and more, including a regular role in “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”.

There is currently no network attached to the “Punky Brewster” reboot, but the series, which is being conceived as a sequel, is being written and executive produced by Steve and Jim Armogida.
