Showtime has confirmed to ET Canada that Joshua Jackson is departing the series and won’t be appearing in the upcoming fifth and final season. The network had no further comment on the Canadian star’s exit.

A year ago, Jackson’s co-star Ruth Wilson also left the show and her character Alison was killed off in a twist that shocked fans.

“I did want to leave, but I’m not allowed to talk about why,” Wilson told CBS’s Gayle King after her exit from the show.

Rumours of Jackson potentially leaving were first reported soon after the finale.

The final season of “The Affair” will also reportedly see the series jump forward in time.
