James Corden had a huge surprise in store for patrons of a London comic book shop when he paid a visit and brought a few special guests with him: the cast of the new “X-Men” sequel “Dark Phoenix”.
In a bit shared on YouTube, “The Late Late Show with James Corden” host drops by London’s Orbital Comics where he speaks with shoppers about their favourite superheroes.
At the beginning of the video (above), Corden chats with a woman who reveals her favourite comic book character is Jean Grey, portrayed onscreen by Sophie Turner.
“I’ve met Sophie Turner, she’s amazing,” Corden tells the fan. “She’s really great. Be amazing if you got to meet her.”
That happens soon enough, when Turner and “Dark Phoenix” co-stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Alexandra Shipp and Tye Sheridan stride in to meet with fans and sign autographs.
At one point in the video, Turner is seen at a table writing her signature on fan’s X-Men comics, with a long line forming for her autograph.
The camera pulls back to reveal Corden sitting at an adjacent table in front of a poster for “Oceans 8” (he even points to his name in the credits), where there is no lineup for his autograph.
“The Late Late Show with James Corden” will kick off a week’s worth of shows from London starting on Monday, June 17.
In the meantime, viewers can catch Corden hosting the 73rd annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 9.
“Dark Phoenix” is in theatres now.
