The first trailer for highly anticipated video game “Cyberpunk 2077” dropped Sunday at the E3 Expo, currently underway in Los Angeles, and features a very special surprise at the end.
The RPG game is set in a dystopian future in which cyber-enchanced body modification is all the rage, following the saga of V, a hired gun who’s just made a big score.
At the trailer’s end, a familiar voice is heard: “Wake the f**k up, samurai — we have a city to burn.”
As the character kneels down into the camera frame, he’s revealed to be none other than Keanu Reeves, who is not only lending his voice and likeness to the game, but also provided full-body motion capture for his character, rocker-turned-warrior Johnny Silverhand.
For fans at E3, an even bigger surprise lay in store when Reeves himself appeared onstage to talk about the new game.
“I’m always drawn to fascinating stories,” he said, describing the game as “breathtaking.”
“You’re breathtaking,” yelled someone from the audience, prompting the “John Wick” star to respond, “You’re breathtaking,” gesturing to the audience.
“Cyberpunk 2077” will be released in 2020; until then, watch Reeves make his big E3 announcement in the video below:
