During Ariana Grande’s concert on Sunday, a protester stood outside her concert arguing against gay rights.
A video shows the man holding up a rainbow flag with the word “pride” crossed out.
A woman approached him and brings up the point of Pride Month to which he responds, “God wants you to repent.”
The clip caught the attention of Grande who replied, “man… saddened but not surprised by this one bit. i’m so sorry any of my fans had to encounter this. we will do our best to ensure this doesn’t happen again. proud of u all for not fighting / engaging violently. never worth it. wishing him peace & a healed heart cause girl yikes.”
In another comment, she added, “he is highly outnumbered. you are all so celebrated and loved and safe.”
She finally said, “also, he was doing the be alright choreo in his garage later that night, i promise.”
ET Canada has reached out to Grande’s rep to see how this could change her concerts going forward.
Grande will be headlining the Manchester Pride concert this summer. There was outrage that a straight performer would be taking the spotlight but the “Thank U, Next” singer reassured her fans that she just wants to “put on a show that makes my LGBT fans feel special.”
