MTV’s hit show “The Hills” is back, getting a reboot nearly 10 years after the finale.
During an interview with ABC News’ Abbie Boudreau on “Good Morning America”, original cast members Whitney Port, Jason Wahler, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Pratt, Spencer Pratt, and new star Mischa Barton, talk about all the drama fans can expect in “The Hills: New Beginnings”.
“At first I was nervous,” Whitney Port says on returning to reality TV. “I’m, like, 33 years old now with a kid. So I thought, You know, opening up our lives on reality TV was a little scary.”
But for Audrina Patridge, she was used to the fame: “I feel like we did it for so long that it was so normal,” says Patridge. “It’s like, ‘Oh, here we are again.’ It’s just you snap back into it.”
While we won’t be seeing stars Kristin Cavallari and Lauren Conrad in the sequel, these cast members don’t seem too concerned.
“I actually was kind of excited Lauren wasn’t on it because I felt like it was more freeing and fair, like, for me,” says Heidi Pratt.
“She was always the leader, the one that told you what to do, what not to do,” adds Patridge. “So now you kinda get to make your own choices and be your own self.”
But, infamous couple Spencer and Heidi Pratt, a.k.a. Speidi, will be returning and with an addition: their two-year-old son Gunner.
The couple admit they can now see why fans thought their marriage was just because of the show.
“It was kinda this back and forth, like, ‘Oh, we have to play the characters,'” says Heidi. “We’re being on the show, and then we kind of became those characters, and it was a very challenging time for us.”
Spencer adds, “I can see when you watched the show back then why you wouldn’t think we were gonna make it.”
Along with most of the original cast members, “The Hills: New Beginnings” will see two new stars: Pamela Anderson’s son Brandon Lee and former “The O.C.” actress Mischa Barton.
We can expect lots of drama from the reboot but Audrina Patridge says it will be very “relatable.”
“Our fan base kinda grew up with us. And now they’re adulting and they’re having kids and going through things we are.”
“The Hills: New Beginnings” premieres June 24.
