Amber Heard has filed a lawsuit against a comedian who accused her of blackmailing Johnny Depp.
Heard claims that Doug Stanhope “orchestrated a plot to write an article, which was published at TheWrap.com, which falsely accuses plaintiff Amber Heard of “blackmail’ and other criminal behaviour towards her husband, Johnny Depp, from whom she is seeking a divorce.”;
Heard goes on to call Stanhope’s claims “completely false and defamatory” and states that they have caused her “tremendous harm.”
Heard lawyer, Charles J. Harder, said in a statement that his client “alleges that Stanhope is a close friend of Johnny Depp and, as part of a coordinated effort, wrote a highly defamatory article about Ms. Heard, filled with completely false, highly defamatory and very hurtful statements.”;

Papers filed by Heard, in which she calls Depp “an alcoholic and drug addict,” describe a new incident when he “nearly suffocated her.”
“Depp has hit and kicked Heard on numerous occasions, has thrown objects at her, at one point suffocated her to the point where she feared for her life,”; Heard wrote in the documents.
“The Danish Girl” actress also explains that she returned to Depp’s side “hoping optimistically that the man she married would change his behaviour,” however, “within months, the cycle of substance abuse and violence repeated.”;
Stanhope’s article was published on the TheWrap two days after Heard obtained a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband. Stanhope’s column, titled, “Johnny Depp Is Being Blackmailed by Amber Heard – Here’s How I Know,”; claims the actress is manipulating Depp and threatened to lie about him to the press.
