“It was about two years ago, we started thinking of other ways to work together,” Spelling said in a new interview on 2DayFM’s Breakfast with Grant, Ed & Ash, “because we’ve been best friends for 30 years since the show started. We’ve raised our kids together, and we love working together.”

Explaining that the new reboot will be more of a twist on the original series, Spelling said, “Everyone plays a heightened version of themselves… So it’s kind of a show within a show.”

She added that after the cast all got back together they decided they wanted to “poke fun” at their own public personas in the new series.
