Yeezy traffic jam! Kanye West caused chaos in the streets of Manhattan in the early morning hours on Monday. After performing at the Hot 97 Summer Jam, the 39-year-old rapper informed his fans that he would be holding a surprise concert at Webster Hall at 2 a.m.
West announced the show to make up for his cancelled Governors Ball show from this weekend, after the majority of the festival’s scheduled lineup was cancelled due to inclement weather. Devoted Yeezy disciples quickly rushed to the smaller venue, crowding the streets.

As the crowds grew in size, the show was cancelled with some reports of near-riot conditions. Webster Hall tweeted, “There is no late night show at Webster Hall tonight. Please get home safely.”
Fans in the crowd tweeted about the experience, seemingly still having a blast despite the lack of an actual concert.

Around the time he was supposed to hit the stage, West rode through the crowd standing out of a sunroof and high-fiving fans. Kardashian documented the impromptu moment on Snapchat as West threw his arms in the air while the car drove down the street.

It was an incredibly busy day for the A-list couple. They attended a matinee performance of The Lion King on Broadway with their daughter, North, before heading to the Hot 97 Summer Jam for another surprise performance. West also celebrated his 39th birthday several days early with an orange “Pablo” cake.
