Inside the issue, the 47-year-old Hollywood star speaks out about returning to her most famous role as Bridget Jones and how it has welcomed scrutiny. Speaking about her upcoming role in the three-quel, “Bridget Jones’s Baby”;, alongside Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey, the three-time Golden Globe winner recalls how she had to gain a few pounds to return to her role.

After previously putting on 20 pounds for the first film in 2001, Zellweger says, “I put on a few pounds. I also put on some breasts and a baby bump. Bridget is a perfectly normal weight and I’ve never understood why it matters so much. No male actor would get such scrutiny if he did the same thing for a role.”;
The actress also goes into detail about her time away from the big screen, revealing that she tapped into some new life experiences that helped her get back to work. She says, “I found anonymity, so I could have exchanges with people on a human level and be seen and heard, not be defined by this image that precedes me when I walk into a room.”;

She adds, “You cannot be a good storyteller if you don’t have life experiences, and you can’t relate to people. As a creative person, saying no to that wonderful once-in-a-lifetime project is hard. But I was fatigued and wasn’t taking the time I needed to recover between projects, and it caught up with me.”;
