The Dominican Republic has been making headlines recently after the deaths of nine tourists who fell victim to a mysterious ailment while visiting the tropical nation, known for its spectacular beaches and balmy weather.
According to the New York Post, a source reports that reality TV star Melissa Rycroft recently vacationed in the Dominican Republic and became “really sick” during her visit.
An “insider” tells the Post that the 36-year-old star of “The Bachelor” and “Dancing With the Stars” fell ill while staying at the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana with her family.
According to Rycroft’s rep, she has experienced “major stomach issues” since returning from the trip.
“She got an upset stomach on the second day of vacation, but it passed,” her rep shared to The Post. “Once they came home, she got severe cramping,” the rep said. “It has lasted for over a week, and she’s currently getting tested for possible parasites and any other infections. She’s assuming it’s something foodborne, but no one else in her family is ill.”
However, on June 23 she took to Instagram to let her followers that she’s made a full recovery.
“Wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers lately!” she wrote in the caption to a photo of herself and her children. “I am happy to say that I am back to normal (well, as normal as I can be!) and feeling good!! I truly appreciate all the love you all sent 💕.”
Previously, Rycroft offered an update on Instagram, telling her followers that her condition was improving.
“Update for everyone asking,” she wrote. “More bloodwork done today. Blood pressure was 90/60 so they’re monitoring it. But!!! New meds are making me feel so much better!!!”
She added, “Test results by Thursday at the latest!! But this is good progress!!”
