Chrissy Metz sits down with RuPaul Charles on the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star’s new daytime talk show, “RuPaul”, and opens up about the winding path that led her to stardom with “This Is Us”.
As Metz, 38, tells the host, she was actually a Hollywood agent before hitting it big, and reveals she had a difficult time gaining the confidence to display her gifts as an actress.
“I think in my heart I always knew, but I was so afraid to even take that leap or ever believe in myself,” she says.
Even today, Metz admits that her confidence “goes in waves, let’s be honest. Some days I’m like, ‘Yeah… like I’m feeling good, and sometimes that comes from preparation, and sometimes you just wake up on the right side of the bed.”
In another part of the interview, Metz gets candid about her first marriage, admitting her ex-husband is “an angel from the heavens, but I knew it wasn’t right… I don’t think if we were still together I would be in this position.”
By the way, don’t worry if you’re not able to find “RuPaul” on your television guide; the show is currently on a four-week TV “test drive,” airing on seven major U.S. markets during the summer. If all goes well, look for the show to hit daytime television on an ongoing basis.
