Wendy Williams is opening up about her business relationship with ex-husband Kevin Hunter.
The “Wendy Williams Show” host chatted about Hunter at the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Summit on Thursday in Charlotte, North Carolina and revealed he kept Williams in the dark on a lot of the business decisions.
“You’ve got to be at the ground floor of your operation. I don’t care how big you get… don’t just rely on your team to bring back the information because you’re such a big shot and you don’t have to be there,” she said.
But for Williams, Hunter controlled all her business deals.
“It used to be Kev and the team would show up, and then Kev wouldn’t bring me in until he knew, ‘Okay, the deal’s done. Now it’s time for you to meet the people.’ Not now. I want to be in on the first conversation of the deal, and I want to be on every meeting until the deal is done,” she revealed. “And that’s the way I roll.”
She later advised the female audience members to pause their love lives to focus on their careers but then said not to completely dismiss the idea of romantic relationships.

“I am a wife or a serious girlfriend,” she clarified. “I’m not one of these girls who, you know, ‘I don’t need no man.’”
Williams filed for divorce from Hunter earlier this year after 21 years of marriage. The pair share son Kevin Jr., 18.
