A new trailer for “Child’s Play” invites everyone to engage in what may well be the creepiest-ever singalong.
In the trailer for the horror reboot, homicidal doll Chucky (voiced by Mark Hamill) and his young owner (Gabriel Bateman) sing the “Buddi Song”, with a bouncing ball encouraging viewers to join in and sing along.
While it starts out cute, it doesn’t take long to veer toward terrifying, cutting to footage of red-eyed Chucky wielding a knife and slashing away as victims scream.
Director Lars Klevberg’s remake of the horror hit also stars Aubrey Plaza (“Legion”) and Bryan Tyree Henry (“Atlanta”).
During a recent press conference (via Den of Geek), Hamill admitted he was surprised by how daunting providing the voice of Chucky wound up becoming.
“I didn’t feel that kind of intimidation until it sunk in that I was doing this,” said the “Star Wars” actor of taking over the role from Brad Dourif. “I love Brad. It’s a great responsibility, so I’m anxious to see how people react because it’s not the Chucky that we all know from before.”
“Child’s Play” is in theatres now.
