Adam Lambert Shares Details On His New Album ‘Velvet’

Adam Lambert visited RuPaul on his self-named show where the erstwhile Queen singer gave viewers some insight into his upcoming album Velvet.

“Friends, people I have met over the last 10 years that I respect. A lot of queer writers,” Lambert said, listing those who have collaborated on the album. “More female writers.”

“Do you feel like you embody Freddie Mercury?” RuPaul inquired.

“I have had moments where they have had goosebumps… out-of-body moments,” he said but added it would be “presumptuous” to think he is “channelling Freddie.”

They also talked about how he manages to hit all those iconic notes. Everything from “denial” to vocal rest to a shot of tequila helps do the trick.

Lambert also opened up about his new boyfriend and how his first single makes him feel “romantic.”

The two met on Instagram, which RuPaul had a hard time wrapping his head around. “I love meeting freaks on Instagram” Lambert teased. “I think I’m a pretty good judge of character. We took our time.”

Velvet doesn’t have a release date yet but Lambert promises it will be available soon.
