Despite posters for the hockey comedy, Goon, being up for two weeks already, the City of Toronto has ordered Alliance Films to take them down. The City of Toronto has deemed some of the movie posters too inapproppriate and has demanded that 38 of the posters spread across the city be removed.

The posters in question feature the star and writer of the film, Jay Baruchel (How To Train Your Dragon, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) gesturing in a way that may offend some people.

The cast of Goon was in Toronto for the Red Carpet premiere on Wednesday. Mike Dowse, the director of Goon had this to say about the removal: “I question whether this has to do with Jay’s tongue or his ability to burn Maple Leafs’ jerseys, neither of which are offensive in any way.”;

Baruchel simply said, “Another classic example of the cultural divide between Quebec and Ontario, I guess.”;

Alliance Films was not given prior notice or an explanation as to why the posters would be removed.
