Some of Hollywood’s biggest names are joining forces to find out whodunnit in the first trailer for Rian Johnson’s murder mystery, “Knives Out”.
Starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis and many more, “Knives Out” revolves around a family gathering that goes wrong after the patriarch, Harlan Thrombey — portrayed by Christopher Plummer — mysteriously dies.
Two detectives, played by Craig and Lakeith Stanfield, investigate the situation. However, the extended family aren’t necessarily co-operative.
The film also stars Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon, and Katherine Langford.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Johnson shared the inspiration behind this new murder-mystery tale.
“The idea was to take everything I love about a great Agatha Christie story and put it into a new original story set in modern-day America,” he told the magazine. “That’s kind of the essence of it.
“Harlan has built this massive empire up and he has a group of kids and their families who are all adults and who all to one degree or another live based on his success. When the family fortune is kind of in question or up for grabs, that’s when the proverbial knives come out.”
Some lucky fans got a taste of the “Star Wars” director’s latest project at this year’s CinemaCon, saying it is some of his best work.
