Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth revealed she’d suffered a miscarriage five months into her pregnancy in a heartbreaking Instagram post Thursday.
The 21-year-old posted a sombre black-and-white photo of her and husband Austin Forsyth sitting on a hospital bed.
Joy-Anna wrote in the caption, “Today marks one week since we heard these words… ‘So this is your baby’s heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don’t hear a heartbeat or see any movement.'”
The “Counting On” star was told the devastating news when she and her husband went in for their 20-week ultrasound scan.

“It was a baby girl,” Joy-Anna continued, before saying they’d named her Annabell Elise.
“Annabell means ‘God has favoured me,’ and Elise means ‘God satisfies.’ What a precious thing to know that when our daughter opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the face of Jesus.”
“Although we don’t understand why, God has given us unexplainable peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Yes, it still hurts and we have cried countless tears, but we know that we can trust the Lord.”
Joy-Anna and Austin are already parents to 1-year-old son Gideon.
