New music from J. Cole is now here.
The rapper made the announcement on Thursday afternoon that as the clock changed to July 5, Revenge Of The Dreamer III would drop.
“Know that this album represents community and the unheard unsung artist that fight and bleed daily to be felt. There will be someone you never heard of on this album. Look them up and support them if they resonate with you. A follow goes a long way,” he tweeted.
The album is over 50 per cent Dreamville artists where more than 120 songs from at least 100 artists were recorded before 20 made the final cut onto the album.
And hidden in the album’s last track, “Sacrifices,” Cole announced his wife Melissa Heholt is pregnant with their second child.
“I had nowhere to go, she gave me a place to stay,” he sings. “She gave me her heart to hold, I still got that shit to this day / She ridin’ with me on the road, she ridin’ with me in the A / Huggin’ the block, huggin’ the block, okay.”
He continued, “She gave me the gift of my son, and plus we got one on the way. She gave me a family to love, for that, I can never repay / I’m crying while writing these words, the tears, they feel good on my face, hey.”
J. Cole didn’t forget about all of those who came so close, but so far, adding, “To the producers and artists that came through but didn’t make the album, you are there in spirit. Thank you for your presence, the energy of those sessions was the most magical.”
Dreamville was started by the “Middle Child” rapper as a label to help grow talent.
Some of the artists featured include Bas, J.I.D, EarthGang, Lute, Cozz, Omen and Ari Lennox.
