As promised, President Donald Trump delivered his Fourth of July “Salute to America” event, paying tribute to America’s military with a flyover of military jets, some tanks and a patriotic speech.
In addition to all the military hardware and the massive fireworks display that capped off the event, held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., was rain, and lots of it.
In fact, the rain was so heavy that the president was forced to deliver his speech from behind a large plexiglass sheet to prevent him from getting wet in the deluge.
Naturally, celebrities had plenty to say about Trump’s Independence Day spectacle, with stars such as Bette Midler and George Takei taking a critical view of the “Salute to America”.
