Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest champion Joey Chestnut hit back at Peter King after the sportswriter talked negatively about the competition.

TMZ Sports questioned Chestnut after King observed the competition was held in the face of so much starvation in the country.

Insisting the Major League Eating organization regularly donates to food banks, Chestnut said: “I think Peter King [is] kind of narrow-minded.

“He’s picking low-hanging fruit. It’s easy to criticize something. He could easily criticize NASCAR for greenhouse gas emissions.”

Chestnut devoured 71 hot dogs to win the men’s division of the annual contest on New York City’s Coney Island. The champion beat out 17 of his competitors to claim the Mustard Belt.
