Lil Nas X has spoken about the backlash after revealing he is gay during an appearance on BBC Breakfast Friday.
The rapper — real name Montero Lamar Hill — insisted he’s taking the negative reaction in stride.

Lil Nas X shared on the show, “I kinda revealed it. That I’m gay.”

He then said, when asked whether he expected any criticism: “Oh, I’m already getting it. I used to be that person being negative.
“I’m not angry or anything [about it], because I understand how they just want that reaction.”
Lil Nas X also said he previously thought he would never come out, but that he’d had a change of heart.
He explained, “I don’t want to just live my entire life, especially how I got to where I’m at, just not doing what I want to do. I’m also, I feel like, opening the doors for more people.”
