Titled “I Fell in Love with the Devil”, the track has been receiving rave reviews from most of her fans, but it’s proving upsetting to some who perceive the song to be anti-religious.
“I’ll hv to unfollow you now… how can you fall in love with Devil when God created you with amazing talent which made so famous…. Thank God for the blessings not Devil,” reads one comment on Instagram.
“Are u Christian? Or you are mocking of Jesús?” another commenter wrote.

On Saturday, Lavigne took to Instagram to share some promotional images from the new single.
Fans will be able to see the Canadian pop star live in concert when she hits the road in, with her first tour in five years set to kick off in Seattle on Sept. 14; so far, she’s only returning to her homeland for one date, in Toronto on Oct. 6.
