For decades, fans watching the scene in which Hamill’s Luke Skywalker gets off the plane to hug Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia have suspected that he could be seen greeting her by her actual name.
On Twitter, the actor responded to a question about the moment, explaining that he was saying the words “there she” and not “Carrie.”
When a fan pointed out that director George Lucas let other mistakes in the film slip by, Hamill explained that saying “Carrie” would have been a bridge too far.
