Reigning Single of the Year winners James Barker Band and Interactive Artist or Group of the Year winner Brett Kissel lead the nominees with five nominations each for the 2019 CCMA Awards, presented by TD.
James Barker Band are nominated for the Apple Music Fans’ Choice Award, Interactive Artist or Group of the Year, Group or Duo of the Year, Anthem Entertainment Songwriter(s) of the Year, and will look to hold on to their current Single of the Year title.
Kissel, meanwhile, has the opportunity to win back-to-back trophies for Interactive Artist or Group of the Year. The 29-year-old has also received nominations for MNP Male Artist of the Year, Anthem Entertainment Songwriter(s) of the Year, and the Apple Music Fans’ Choice Award.
But Kissel will compete for arguably the biggest and most coveted award of the night — Entertainer of the Year — which will return to the CCMA Awards broadcast after a 30-year hiatus. He’ll go head-to-head with Canadian country music stars Paul Brandt, Dean Brody, Tim Hicks, and Dallas Smith.
Brandt, Hicks, and Smith received four nominations each, joining the Reklaws, Lindsay Ell, and confirmed 2019 CCMA Awards performer Tenille Townes as the second-most-nominated artists.
Hunter Brothers celebrated earning three nominations by filming an amazing video. The clip above features Brock, Dusty, J.J., Luke and Ty each playing pianos that are stacked on top of one another.
Their caption on Instagram reads in part: “When you receive nominations for the CCMA Awards, including Group of the Year, Apple Music Fans’ Choice and Album of the Year, you need to celebrate in true Hunter Brothers style. Thank you to the CCMA[s], the [c]ountry music industry, and to our incredible fans.”
Voting for the the Apple Music Fans’ Choice Award is now open via streaming on Apple Music and through the Canadian Country Music Association’s official website, where a complete list of the 2019 CCMA Award nominees can also be found.
The 2019 CCMA Awards presented by TD will broadcast live from Calgary, Alberta, on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
