The Internet is shook at its most recent discovery.
On Tuesday, Twitter realized that one of the most popular and beloved memes, the “nodding meme guy,” is Hollywood legend Robert Redford.
The fan-favourite GIF is actually a brief moment from the 1972 film, “Jeremiah Johnson”, which starred Redford as a burly bearded man. And in one of the scenes, Redford slowly approves of something from a distance, making a perfect meme almost 50 years later.

Because of the bearded look on the man in the meme many assumed that it was Zach Galifianakis, but when they realized who it actually was it caused a stir on Twitter.

“Today I learned a not insignificant number of my colleagues never knew Robert Redford is the ‘nodding guy meme,'” one user wrote. “Deeply disturbing.”
While another said: “Always thought this was Zach Galifianakis… you learn something new everyday.”
