After finding fame on HGTV, Joanna and Chip Gaines are figuring out their own path.
Last Autumn the couple known for their modern farmhouse designs and Magnolia lifestyle brand announced that they will be starting their own network in partnership with Discovery Inc. that will replace the DIY Network.
“I have to remind myself that it’s possible nobody ever really knows what they’re doing and how it’s okay that we are hitting the ground running while simultaneously learning about this new venture all at once,” Joanna wrote in a blog post along with a video of what they have been working on so far.
The couple is still exploring show ideas and how to curate and produce them. “One thing is for certain though: we believe that there are good stories waiting to be told and we can’t wait to tell them,” she added.
Joanna then took a trip down memory lane over the past 16 years of her adventure with Chip.
“Whether it was flipping our first house together, opening our own business or having kids, there were just so many unknowns. When I get nervous or afraid, the part that gets me up every day is that fact that we get to climb these steep mountains together. We have grown to love the unknown and the risks and challenges that come with it,” she said, adding, “That’s what makes us feel alive and young.”
The couple recently finished Harvard’s Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports programme to help them learn the ins and outs of the media business. Other celebrities in the class included Ciara, and NBA players Julius Randle, Luc Mbah a Moute and Kevin Love.
